Osteopathy for Pregnancy.
During pregnancy, the body goes through huge changes. Due to pregnancy hormones (which soften connective tissues as part of the need to accommodate pregnancy) and change in the centre of gravity, your body may experience more musculoskeletal stress. This may cause problems like back pain, sciatica, pelvic instability as well as pubic symphysis pain. Osteopaths are trained to treat and offer advice to help manage these symptoms.
Your osteopath’s aim is to assist the natural process of pregnancy and birth-maximising your body’s ability to change and support you and your baby with a minimum of pain and discomfort.
During labour, the descent of the baby through the pelvis is influenced by many different factors. If the mother’s pelvis is twisted or stiff, it may interfere with the baby’s passage through the birth canal. Osteopathic treatment is aimed to maintain normal pelvic alignment and mobility.
Treatment techniques used by our Osteopaths are tailored to each pregnancy and are comfortable for both the mother and her growing baby.
